Citrus At Nine

We cut lemons in half,
sprinkled sugar, and spent
the afternoon licking.

Our bony calves swinging from the bough.
when I grow up I will if
I could marry have you
ever let’s build a trap.

Hide and seek at the top of the secret staircase,
she said in movies
they kiss with their tongues.
She stuck hers out, touched mine. A baby squid.

The lemons were sucked out rinds of themselves, membrane pinwheels.

When my sister never found us,
we opened the door and it was still daylight.
